We’re Leonard Millard and Rebecca Peake. Two of us, in Bude, and between us twenty years in direct sales and marketing for holiday parks across the UK.
That is twenty years of sitting across a table from someone deciding whether to spend money, and learning what makes them say yes. It turns out a website is the same table with nobody sitting at it.
Twenty years of watching people decide whether to spend.
Ten years each, running direct sales and marketing across dozens of holiday parks. That still meant sitting at the table when a family who had saved for years finally decided to spend: you watch them read, and you learn very quickly which sentence made them relax and which one made them look at the door.
Nobody ever signed because the brochure was handsome. They signed when the price was on the page, when the question they were embarrassed to ask had already been answered, and when they believed the person opposite would still be there in a year.
So we build a website the way we used to run that meeting. The thing you sell at the top. The price where they can see it. One obvious thing to do next. And a real number underneath it, which somebody answers.
We build for the customer stood outside in the rain, and for the one who wants a human to ring back before dark.
Most local websites are built to impress the owner. If yours helps that person do the thing they came to do, it has done its job. If it doesn’t, we haven’t.
None of these businesses is bad at its job. The website is.
We started Bude Web Services because too many good businesses round here are let down by the thing that is supposed to be selling for them. The café with a menu you have to pinch and drag on a phone. Or the holiday let paying commission on every booking it could have taken itself, from a page it already owns, because nobody ever put the dates on it.
We can’t do anything about the weather or the season. We can do something about the twenty seconds a customer spends deciding between you and whoever is next on the list.
It is the same short list every time, so we wrote down what we would fix first for each trade, with the prices next to it.

Being local is not a badge. It is the things you only pick up by living somewhere: which car park fills first in August, which way the winter trade walks in, why a builder in Kilkhampton has his next three jobs booked from a conversation in a pub before Google has heard of him.
Bude is full in August and quiet in November, and every business here plans around both. A site written only for the summer trade is half a site. We are here in February as well as July, so we build for the whole year and we know which pages have to carry the quiet months.

The price is fixed in writing before we start
Every price is published. After a short call we write down what we will build and the one figure it costs. It only changes if you add something, and then you get the new number before the work, not after it.

Not a slideshow of screens on a laptop. The real thing, on the device your customers will hold, while there is still time to change it.

And the things we won’t do
- Promise you a Google ranking. Nobody can, and anyone who does is selling you something else.
- Put a photograph of somebody else's beach on your site, or a stock family eating somebody else's food.
- Write you a review, or count a client we are not allowed to name.

Bude Web Services is a trading name of Peake Management Ltd, registered in England and Wales. ParkCraft is the name the same two people work under with holiday parks.
What we learnt there is what we bring here: parks live or die on enquiries and bookings, so every page gets judged on whether it produced one. A high street business is no different, it just has a shorter season to do it in.
