The terms we work to.

A fixed price in writing before anything starts, and a plain account of what we will and will not promise. Where a term has not been settled yet, it is left out rather than invented.

Who you are dealing with

Bude Web Services is a trading name of Peake Management Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 15574401, based in Bude, Cornwall, EX23. Where this page says we, us or our, it means Peake Management Ltd.

There are two of us: Leonard and Rebecca. One of us writes the quote, builds the work and answers the phone afterwards. There is no account manager in between.

What this page covers

Two things. The terms on which anybody may use this website, and the terms on which we quote for and carry out work. Where we send you a written proposal for a job, that proposal and these terms are read together, and if the two ever disagree, the proposal wins because it describes the actual job.

The prices on this website, including those on the pricing page, are guide prices and ranges, not an offer. A contract exists once we have sent you a written, fixed price for your job, or for the plan you have chosen, and you have said yes to it.

Prices, and how we quote

Our prices are published on the pricing page. Most are ranges or starting prices, because the work behind two jobs that both get called “a website” varies. They tell you the size of the number before you ring us. They are not a quote.

After a short call you get one fixed figure in writing for your job, before any work starts. That figure does not move unless the job does. If you ask for something that was not in the written scope, we tell you what it costs before we build it, and you decide.

If a figure on this website ever differs from the one in your written quote, the written quote is the one that applies. Photography shoots and AI search work are priced for the job in front of us rather than from a list.

What we need from you

A build runs on your material. Words, photographs, a menu, prices, opening hours, the towns you cover, logins to any system that already holds your domain or your bookings, and an answer when we ask a question.

Most of the waiting on any job is waiting on those. If they are slow, the job is slow, and a date we agreed at the start moves with them. We will tell you when that is happening rather than let a deadline pass quietly.

You confirm that anything you send us is yours to use: your own photographs, or ones you have paid for or been given permission to use, and words that are not lifted from somewhere else. If a claim ever lands over something you supplied, it is yours to answer.

Paying

One-off work, such as a Fast-Track Website, a Bespoke Website, branding or an audit, is a written price, an invoice, and payment by bank transfer. The stages, the deposit and the days to pay are set out in the written quote for your job. A Fast-Track Website can be spread over 3 or 6 months.

Late payment on one-off work may attract interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998. If a payment is more than 30 days overdue and reasonable attempts to resolve it have failed, we may suspend the services we provide to you until it is settled.

Third-party costs are separate and are always named before they are incurred: the domain, any booking, ordering or card system, and the fees those companies charge on their own account.

Other people’s services

A working website leans on companies that are not us. A registrar for the domain. A card processor such as Stripe. A booking system, an email provider, Google. We will set those up with you and tell you plainly what each one costs, but the contract for each of them is between you and them, and their terms apply.

If one of those services changes its rules, its prices or its interface, we will tell you and quote for the work if there is work in it. What we cannot do is promise that somebody else’s product will stay as it is.

Monthly plans

Care plans, pay-monthly plans and marketing plans are billed every 30 days, in advance. There is no minimum term. You can cancel at any time by WhatsApp, by phone or through the contact form, and the service carries on to the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund part months.

The care plan

Every website you buy from us comes with a care plan. A Fast-Track Website needs the Keep plan or above; for a Bespoke Website we suggest Grow or Lead. You can move between plans at any time, and there is no minimum term. Pay-monthly plans already include hosting and upkeep, so they have no separate care plan.

  • Keep, £60 a month: hosting, SSL, weekly security scans and backups, software updates and uptime checks, with a reply within 48 hours.
  • Grow, £120 a month: everything in Keep, plus daily backups, help the next working day, speed and link checks, and 30 minutes of changes a month.
  • Lead, £240 a month: everything in Grow, plus a firewall, hourly backups, help the same day and 90 minutes of changes a month.

Keep includes no changes to your words or photographs; on Keep we price each one before we start. The pricing page sets out everything each plan includes.

New pages and new features are not small changes. They are priced as extra work, and we will tell you the price before we start rather than after.

Pay-monthly plans

On a pay-monthly plan we build the site free and you pay monthly. It is a managed service, not a site you own: we host it and run it, and its code and design stay with us and cannot be transferred. Your content, domain and brand are still yours.

If you cancel, the site stays live to the end of the 30 days you have paid for, then goes offline. If a payment fails, your card is retried automatically and we message you before anything happens. After 7 days of failed payment the site is taken offline. Re-subscribe at any time and we bring it back at the same address.

Who owns what

Your content, your domain and your brand assets are always yours: your words, your photographs, your logo, your data.

A Bespoke Website: once it is paid for in full, ownership of the code written for your project is assigned to you. The written quote sets out exactly what is assigned, and you can host it anywhere.

A Fast-Track Website is delivered as a hosted service on our infrastructure. The site, its code and its design stay on our hosting for as long as the care plan runs. If the care plan is cancelled or goes unpaid, the site goes offline at the end of the billed period, unless a hosting transfer was agreed in advance. Either way, we help you take your content and your domain with you. If you need a codebase you can take elsewhere, the Bespoke Website is the right product.

A pay-monthly plan is managed, not owned, as set out above.

Everything on this website itself, including the words, the design and the code, belongs to Peake Management Ltd unless it is plainly somebody else’s. Client screenshots are shown as examples of our work and the businesses in them own their own brands.

Package terms

Each package also has its own short page of terms in plain English: what it includes, what happens if you cancel and what is yours. Where one of those pages and this one differ, the package page is the one that applies to that package.

What we do not promise

We do not promise a Google ranking, a position in an AI answer, a number of enquiries or a level of sales. Nobody can, and anybody who does is selling you something else. What we promise is the work described in your written price, built to the standard described on this site.

  • Search rankings are Google’s decision, they move, and a competitive term takes months rather than days.
  • AI assistants change what they cite and how often. We build the pages that make being cited possible, not certain.
  • A site is one part of a business. It cannot fix a phone nobody answers or a menu nobody wants.

If we think a job will not work, we will say so before taking the money. That has happened and it will happen again.

Liability

We will do the work with reasonable care and skill, which is what the law requires of us and what we would want anyway.

Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.

Beyond that, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of anticipated savings or any loss that was not a reasonably foreseeable result of us getting something wrong.

If you are buying as a consumer rather than for a business, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by anything on this page.

Using this website

Everything here is written to be accurate on the day it is published, and pages carry the date they were last updated. Prices and examples change. Check with us before relying on any of it for a decision.

The statistics quoted on this site are other people’s research and each one is footnoted with its source, its year and a link, including where the survey asked people outside the UK. They are context, not a forecast for your business.

You may read these pages, print them and share them. You may not copy the design or the writing for another website, and you may not use this site in a way that damages it or interferes with anyone else using it.

Links out go to other people’s sites and we are not responsible for what is on them.

Complaints, changes and the law

If something is wrong, ring 07434 290841 or use the contact form. You get one of the two of us, and we would much rather hear it early.

We may update this page. The date at the top changes when we do, and the version that applies to your job is the one in force when you agreed the price.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute.

How we handle your information is set out in the privacy policy, and what this site stores on your device is in the cookie policy.

Say so before you agree to a price rather than after. Terms are easier to change on the phone in five minutes than in an email six weeks into a build.
