Websites for a café, pub or restaurant

The menu that loads before they change their mind.

We build websites for cafés, pubs and restaurants in Bude, North Cornwall and North Devon: the menu in the page rather than in a PDF, today's hours, and a button that books a table or takes an order at the table. A website starts at £1,195, or we build it free from £25 a month.

From £25 a month, or from £1,195Every price

“The family that's just parked up is stood on Belle Vue in the rain looking at three menus on a phone. Yours is a PDF.”

Menu, hours and a book-a-table button that all work on a phone in the rain, so they pick you.

Your week, from Whitsun to February.

The words below are the ones you use. We write the site in them rather than translating them into something a stranger would say.

Your year has two halves. From Whitsun to the end of October you are turning covers, the specials board is rewritten before eight, and a good share of the walk-ins are people who parked on Belle Vue ten minutes ago and are deciding between you and two others. Half term is its own weather. Then the summer trade goes home.

From November the same room has a different job. You are open for the locals, the dog walkers coming off the canal path, and whoever fancies a Sunday roast in a gale. The bookings that matter are the Christmas parties and the table for eight on a Saturday, and they get made at half past ten at night from a sofa.

The website has to do both. In August it settles an argument in a car park: are you open, do you do a roast, can four of us and a dog get a table at one. In February it is the reason somebody comes out at all. Neither of those is a brochure. Both of them are a menu that loads on one bar of signal, hours that are right, and one thing to tap.

What your site actually has to carry.

Not a feature list. These are the things a customer of yours is trying to do, and where each one has to sit before they give up and ring somebody else.

What a café, pub or restaurant website has to carry, and where each thing belongs.

What we’d do first.

Before a rebuild, before a rebrand, before anything with a monthly fee attached to it. In this order, for a café, pub or restaurant.

  1. Put the menu in the page, not in a PDF, so it loads on one bar of signal at Crooklets and the prices are the ones on the board.

  2. Hours, the phone number and 'Book a table' in the first screen, and the same hours on Google so nobody turns up on a Tuesday to a locked door.

  3. A Google Business Profile with this week's photos and a reply to every review, because that is the page most people see first.

And what we wouldn’t bother with

A photo gallery of the building

Nobody books a table because of a picture of the front door. Put that money into photographs of six dishes and this week's specials board instead.

The words your customers actually type.

Not keywords. Half-sentences, typed with one thumb, usually within a few miles of you and usually about to spend money.

  • café Bude

  • dog friendly pub Widemouth

  • Sunday roast near Bude

  • fish and chips Bude

Every one of those is either a page on your site or a line on your Google Business Profile, and usually both. Local SEO and the Google profile is priced on its own, set up once and kept right through the season.

The questions we get, answered straight.

  • Can you put our menu online without using a PDF?

Yes, and it is the first thing we would change. The menu becomes part of the page, so it opens in one tap, reads at arm's length on a phone, and Google can see every dish on it. You edit prices yourself, or send them over and we do it under the care plan.

  • Can people book a table from the site?

Yes. We wire in the booking system you already pay for rather than selling you a new one, and we put the button in the first screen instead of at the bottom of a page nobody scrolls. If you do not take bookings, we make the phone number the button instead.

  • What does a website for a café or pub cost?

A Fast-Track Website, from £1,195, covers the menu, hours, the booking button and the pages people search for. Online ordering or a shop is a bigger build: a Bespoke Website, from £2,495. Google Business Profile setup is £90, and ongoing local search is part of our Marketing Presence plan, from £345 a month. Or we build it free from £25 a month on a pay-monthly plan. Every price is on our pricing page, and a range is fixed in writing before we start.

  • The specials change every week. Who keeps it up to date?

You can, and we show you how: specials, prices, hours, a sold-out note. If you would rather not touch it during service, send the change over on WhatsApp and it is done under a Grow or Lead care plan, from £120 a month.
